QBV is located in Boane, Mozambique adjacent to the Pequenos Libombos dam. The project started in 2016 and 128 ha of bananas have been planted to date. AgDevCo funds will be used for refinancing existing short-term loans, working capital and capex related to the project. This will sustain the current employees and contribute to the increase of employees in the next years. Most employees come from densely populated but extremely poor areas with limited formal employment. Thus, the project is improving livelihoods in surrounding communities. The export of bananas offers Mozambique the opportunity to increase foreign exchange revenue.
