Premier Credit is a credit-only microfinance institution which provides credit to individuals and SMEs in Kenya. The company’s SME clients generally own small businesses that require short-term working capital for specific expenses, at short notice and to meet an immediate business need, such as farming inputs for example. Premier Credit has an expansive network of branches, with over half of its branches located in rural areas, where a majority of households derive their income from agricultural activities.As of December 2022, Premier has over 39,000 rural borrowers, of whom 47% are women and 30% are young. The company employs over 900 people, 94% of whom are young and 65% are women.
